Salim Amin, son and only child of the legendary Mohamed "Mo" Amin, undertakes a journey of recollection and reflection into the life of the frequently absent, globe-trotting father le loved, revered and feared. In his late teens, Mo Amin abandons his studies to pursue a career in photography which, over the course of 30 years, will turn him into a front-line camerman, and arguably, the most renowned photojournalist of his era. Training his candid lens across several continents, Mo Amin thirst for breaking news puts him repeatedly in harm's way -- enduring weeks of torture, automatic arms fire, explosives, and ultimately the amputation of his left arm -- to become the most decorated news cameraman of all time. This moving documentary depicts Mo as an unbending, unforgiving and unapologetically rambunctous paterfamilias whose "hunger" for the story propels him to even greater heights, often at the expense of those he cherishes.

Although rich in natural resources, Sierra Leone is one of the poorest countries in the world. Louis arrives in Sierra Leone as it is in the earliest stage of recovery from an 11 year civil war, which devastated the entire nation. Offering a unique narrative and perspective, Louis heads out to discover first hand about the country's past in the days of the British Empire and how Sierra Leone get to this point in its troubled history. Featuring a hip-hop & reggae fused soundtrack and stunning visuals, THE LION MOUNTAINS looks at pre-colonial Africa, the beginnings of European trade, slavery, resistance, the 1807 Abolition Act, as well as the effects of Western imperialism and colonial rule.

Over 5 million people have died as a direct result of the war in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). In the aftermath of brutal war, the children of Congo have endured the brunt of the suffering. This film documents the plight of thousands of street children living in Kinshasha and confirms the wide-spread accusations of child witchcraft, torture and child prostitution. CHILDREN OF CONGO also examines the efforts to reintegrate demobilized child soldiers, displaced refugees , and orphaned children following the eruption of the massive Nyiragongo volcano in Eastern Congo.

This eloquent film follows the life and struggles of 3-year-old Autumn Collier in Jersey City, New Jersey. The directors filmed Autumn and her family through a series of family crises over an extended period of time. The film really paints a deeply personal picture of African-American poverty in the United States. Autumn is 3-years-old; her mother is 19; her grandmother is about 39. Her mother is in jail pending trial and sentencing. The family struggles with health issues (particularly, obesity and Diabetes), and extreme poverty. The cinema verite style film is as powerful as it is heartbreaking. One can see elements of both the institutionalized cycle of poverty playing out over multiple generations as well as the irresponsible behaviors and actions of the family that seem to be making their bad situation worse. The film doesn't attempt to answer whether the causes of their dire situation are institutional or individual, but instead leaves that to the viewer to sort out and attempt to sort out answers. The overhanging question is does this lovable precocious little girl have a future that is any better than what her family is experiencing.)
