(For History & Psychology Programs)
Since 1977 Gloria Hollander Lyon has borne witness to the Holocaust, seeking to find meaning and teach the lessons of this great tragedy of incomprehensible scale through the experiences of one who lived through it. Although her family was rounded up and shipped to Auschwitz, Gloria managed to avoid the gas chamber and later survived six other concentration camps. In this very personal documentary, Gloria recounts that traumatic period, revisits the camps, reunites with her Swedish "family" that liberated her, and celebrates survival and life.

IN THE SHADOW OF THE BLADE (2005)

Veterans of America's longest war never talked about - until a Huey came to town. Produced by Cheryl Fries and directed by Patrick Fries, IN THE SHADOW OF THE BLADE is an emotion-filled documentary that follows the 10,000-mile journey of a battle-scarred UH-1 "Huey" helicopter into the backyards of America to hear the untold stories of Vietnam War veterans and their families who waited for them to come home. The evocative healing power of this educational film has been described as "the most important thing to happen to Vietnam veterans since the dedication of the wall." The DVD also includes more than an hour of special features including interviews with the crew of the Huey about what they saw and felt.
