Forward In Time
Productive Aging In America

In cooperation with PBS affiliate KRCB TV, Parallel Lines has just completed its latest PBS documentary on aging in America. Scheduled to air in early November, and hosted by Academy Award winning actress Mercedes Ruehl, the focus of the one-hour Forward In Time is the experience of aging and the potential for productive and creative aging in America. The footage reflects the 80% of active and healthy seniors who utilize productive aging skills and techniques to enjoy a higher quality of life and more creative retirement. While profiling a cross-section of seniors in their 60s, 70s and 80s including actress Doris Roberts and noted sculptor Bob Berks, the 53 minute program looks at a variety of issues of concern to all seniors: volunteerism, housing options, retirement options, financial planning, long term care insurance, work-related options, and innovations in health care.

Underwriters for the project include: MassMutual Financial Group, IHateFinancialPlanning.com, Classic Residence By Hyatt, 2 Johnson & Johnson companies, (Depuy, Inc. & Gynecare Worldwide), and Belmont Village.

The technical advisor for this project is Donna Wagner, Ph.D., the Director of the Center for Productive Aging at Towson University in Maryland. Prior to coming to Towson, Dr. Wagner was the Vice President for Research and Development of The National Council on the Aging in Washington, DC.

Providing insight into the financial planning issues surrounding retirement was Christopher L. Hayes, Ph.D., founding Chairman of the Masterâs Program in Gerontology at Southampton College of Long Island University. In 1988, Dr. Hayes established the National Center for Women and Retirement Research (NCWRR).

Hosted by Shelley Fabares and produced in cooperation with KRCB, our original aging documentary, Our Parents, Ourselves was broadcast on more than 170 PBS affiliates in 47 states around the country between 1996 and 1998. The focus of this program were the care giving issues that affected millions of working adults and their aging, dependent relatives.

To complement Forward In Time, Parallel Lines is also developing a new web site, www.ForwardIntime.com, which will provide links to our underwriters, as well as related aging organizations recommended by our
advisors.

Our Kids, Our Future:
Quality Child Care in America

Parallel Lines is currently revising and updating a one hour documentary for public television on child care in America. Produced in 1996 and hosted by Meredith Baxter, "Our Kids, Our Jobs" was broadcast on more than 150 PBS affiliates around the country. The presenting station and the 501 (C) (3) fiscal sponsor for &Our Kids, Our Jobs - 2002Å will be PBS affiliate KRCB-TV in Santa Rosa, California, which was also the presenting station for &Mac179;Our KidsÅ when it was originally broadcast in 1995.

Unlike our original child care documentary which examined why and how parents made child care decisions, the focus of Our Kids, Our Future is the need to provide quality child care for the 13 to 14 million children in child care settings every day, leaving no child behind. Our production plan is to look at the some of the best traditional and nontraditional solutions open to the millions of parents and caregivers who must deal with the emotional, social and economic issues surrounding child care in the U.S. in 2002 -- parents who want their children to reach their full potential and to develop appropriately.
